The Dual Edge Ripper is a tool used to make a feathery hand-torn deckled edges to photographs, ink jet prints, fine art papers, and writing papers. Use it on any fibrous papers that can be torn re: watercolor paper, photo paper, laser paper, inkjet paper. Yes, even up to 500gram in weight. These tools have Sharp Laser Cut Edges and are made of Clear Acrylic which make easy alignment of edge placement showing where to tear.
The Dual Edge Ripper is made of clear Acrylic 1/8” by 4” and is available in 24” length. The Acrylic strip has two uniquely laser cut sharp ragged edges, each model having a soft and hard edge unique to each of the 3 models re: “The Original, The Classic and The Extreme”. The ragged edges look like diamond teeth. One side has fine teeth (soft Edge) and the other side has coarse teeth (hard Edge). Each model produces a different deckle depending on your ripping techniques, the paper and the edge you are using.
- “The Original” This model has mild edges which is designed to match a soft deckle on most papers. Use this tool when you want a softer look and a slightly featherily edge. The featherily edge is approximately 1/8” to ¼” in feather length. Depending on paper and tearing technique.
- “The Classic” This model has medium edges. So, when you want to make a more featherily edge on your art than “The Original” model, use this model. The feathery edge is approximately 1/4” to 3/8” in feather length. Depending on paper and tearing technique.
- “The Extreme” This model has our most radical edges. When you want the most feathery edge this is the model of choice. The featherly edge is approximately 1/4” to 3/8” in feather length. Depending on paper and tearing technique.For the most ultimate creativity it is best to have one of each model so you can match the torn edge to the look and feel of the art that you are creating.
